About half the people who begin an exercise program quit during the first year. To help make sure you don't get bored, and to motivate you to continue, here are four tips:

Make it Fun

Choose activities that you enjoy. Listen to music that helps your mind to relax. Try working out with a friend. Try cross training, since adding variety helps most people.

Set Achievable Goals

Make increases in fitness in small steps. If you're not sure how to do this realistically, consider seeing a trainer. Avoid overdoing things.

Keep a Training Diary.

Few things boost self-esteem more than tracking progress as you improve. Revise your goals from time to time. Give yourself rewards, like a new CD when you hit a milestone.

Avoid Feeling Guilty about days Missed

Everyone misses a workout now and then. Some days maybe you just don't feel like it. Some athletes even give themselves a week or two off from time to time, which helps to prevent overtraining.
